Like a song, which transports us to a place, a person, a moment,  a sensation, design does the same with us...

The musical experience is so personal, is inside of us and have meaning just for ourselves, if we can share it is better, but it has to have meaning for us, is part of our identity, our individuality, our personal story.

The design experience is the same, there are some special triggers that are inside of us, is a sensation, a memory.  Which are the triggers of these emotions? Is it a color, is a specific kind of light, is it something we look at, we touch, we smell?

A good example are the Gothic Cathedrals, we feel transported to another place, when we walk inside of them, we feel closer to God, to our spirit.  This sensation is obviously increased if the organ is playing and is full of candles and with powerful incense. 

The stage designers are the masters of this, how by just changing the light they can transport us to day or night, with colors they move us from happiness to sadness. And we know the tone of the play before it starts, by just looking at the empty stage.

Same with music, we may not know the lyrics of a song, but we will know what is it about, because of the tone and the melody.

What is the tone of your house? Of your workspace? Is it a Caribbean Salsa, a Puccini Aria, Reggae?
